Storytelling & Public Speaking Coaching
The old stories - our folk and fairy tales, fables and myths - are full of provocations, wisdom and insights that still have resonance and meaning for us now. These tales can be compassionate and thought-provoking companions for the challenges we face in our lives, our relationships, our work, and the world around us.
Story Coaching is a creative form of life coaching that makes the most of how stories can offer guidance and help us see issues with fresh eyes.
In a Story Coaching process, we look together at the concerns, challenges and possibilities that are alive for you, and we work with a traditional story to explore how you can meet these things creatively, boldly and from a place of knowing yourself.
How does it work and what does it involve?

PRICES:
Seasonal offer reduced rate - Autumn-Winter 2025-26:
£110 - Coaching consultation, story & session
£140 - with 2 coaching sessions
£165 - with 3 coaching sessions
£180 - with 4 coaching sessions
Firstly, we have a consultation phone call to discuss what you are interested in exploring: to establish what aspect of life, work, relationship - for example - you would like to look at in a coaching context.
Then I take this information away and seek a story that can speak to the themes and questions our conversation explored. Our consultation conversation is followed up with a voicenote telling you a story, along with some questions or provocations for how you might engage with the tale.
Then we meet for 1 to 4 coaching sessions to explore your questions in more depth, with the story as a companion. We will work with the story as a starting point for finding the movement and new ideas you are looking for.
Client's feedback:
“I really enjoyed the whole process”
“This way of coaching is such a great idea!”
“These are the kind of conversations I find so nourishing, a quality of talking about things that is very fulfilling for me”
“It helped me hear that what I have to say to and for myself is a type of poetry”
“I found the session so valuable, and it gave me a lot to think about and take forward. I think the approach - using stories as a way in - is such an interesting and worthwhile idea. It enabled me to view things in a different way, using characters and their stories as vehicles into exploring how I view the world, the way I perceive things and how I see myself in them. It felt safe: enabling me to question and explore my reactions to the stories and then question further why I might have reacted in that way. “
To support you in this process, I bring a background in facilitation, restorative justice and creative mentoring. I trained as a coach with and taught coaching skills for The Management Centre, supported by additional coaching programmes with Better Health & Nightline. I regularly support students as a coach and mentor on the School of Storytelling's 3month programme Storytelling Beyond Words. I also bring several years experience using traditional stories with organisations, groups and individuals to support development and enhance change processes.
